Howard D. Letson, 71, of Rhinelander, died April 24, 2012. He was born on June 8, 1940.
He was born and raised in Molton, Ala., moving to Chicago just after receiving his driver’s license at the age of 16. In Chicago he worked for Continental Twist Drill, where he met and married Margaret Sheehan in 1960. They relocated to Crystal Lake, Ill., where he worked at Precision Twist Drill and, then was transferred to open and work as the senior metallurgist for Triumph Twist Drill in Rhinelander and in 1970. He retired from that facility approximately 12 years ago. In his early years Howard enjoyed deer hunting, but later in life preferred to feed them from his hand. His favorite summer past time was spent at the Pinewood Country Club with his golfing companions.
Howard is survived by his three daughters, Shari (Gregg) Bruso of Rhinelander, Diana (Jeff) Henschel of Manawa, and Kimberly Letson of Merrill; four grandchildren, Mathew, Christopher, Heather, and Krystina; three great grandchildren, Jalyn, Jayden, and Demi; a sister, Annice (Larry) Hodge of Brookport, Ill.; and a brother, Hubert Letson of Brookport, Ill. He was preceded by his parents, Leonard and Berdie Mae Letson; a brother, Billy Robert Letson; and an infant sister, Berdie Etoal Letson.
For those wishing to honor Howard’s memory in some way, the family asks instead of flowers or donations, that you spend an extra hour with a loved one, repair a broken relationship and to forgive those who have hurt you in the past. In this way you will keep Howard’s memory and his legacy alive in all of us. Private family services have been held.
