Ila E. Rayford, 90, died March 8, 2012, in Rhinelander. She was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Rhinelander, to Otto W. and Inez Gross.
Ila graduated from Minocqua High School in 1939. She married Erwin W. Rayford, May 17, 1941. She was employed at Daniels Manufacturing Co. from 1939 to 1941. She was a Manager of Student Housing in Platteville from 1960 to 1964. She worked as a Department Head for J.C.Penney Co, in Columbia, Mo., 1964 to 1967. She also worked in the Kalamazoo Public Schools Lunch Program from 1979 to 1982. She and Erwin retired in 1983, and spent the next 10 years traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico before buying a cottage on a small lake in the Lake Tomahawk area, their little bit of heaven. In 1999 they moved to Michigan, making Kalamazoo their home once again.
They had four children, a daughter, Bonnie Rayford Neumann and a son, Lawrence William Rayford, who are deceased. Barbara Rayford (John) Sallee of Parchment, Mich., and Ronald William (Joan) Rayford of Livonia, Mich. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
